They get to the church just in time but Frankie has no evidence to convict Jamesie or his Granddad. As Niamh and Dillon leave for their honeymoon Niamh throws her bouquet and it is a surprised Frankie who catches it.
As the party gets going Aidan stares across the room at Frankie, troubled by his new feelings for her. While the Dooley's prepare the catering for the wedding they have a visitor. Mickyo Donnelly was Dooleys cellmate.
Paul and Oonagh had received a letter that morning from the taxman asking for another twenty thousand pounds. Dermot overhears his parents discuss their money problems and using his initiative opens the pub to tourists while his parents are busy with the wedding. Everything is going fine and he and Grainne are making a packet until one of the punters asks to see an adult. Lucky for Dermot, 'Uncle Mickyo' arrives just in time and claims he is in charge. Paul and Oonagh are thrilled at their kid's initiative.
Note 12th Episode of 5th series. One of his first tasks is to answer questions from a journalist about a Ballykissangel online confessional. All Vincent can say is that he knows nothing about it. When he finds the website he realises that people are paying to have their sins forgiven and decides to investigate. Firstly he notices that the money is being sent to a nearby address. He stakes out the address and he soon sees Dooley and Dermot arrive to collect the post.
Later he finds Dermot by the river. He gently questions him and realises that although Dermot started the site Dooley is now the driving force behind the scam. Vincent also realises that Dermot doesn't want to be involved anymore and promises to help. Dooley eventually stops the website when he receives an email from Vincent, pretending to be God, threatening to notify the taxman about the money he's making.
Liam and Donal find a pile of clothes on the beach and realise that they are Quigley's. They tell Frankie who in turn notifies the Cilldargan detective branch. No one is sure whether Quigley is dead or alive. When Niamh arrives she finds out that her father has left a huge amount of debt. The Dooleys become worried when they realise that the bank might repossess the pub leaving them without a home or any income. During the investigation the detectives treat Frankie in a condescending manner.
She feels she is too soft and decides to change her image and attitude. One morning Niamh, Liam and Donal receive cheques from Brazil. Niamh doesn't know what to do with the money and goes to see Vincent. He agrees to take the money and buy the pub himself so the Dooleys can stay there.
Niamh also receives an email from Brazil. It contains a picture of her father in Rio di Janeiro waving goodbye. Note 1st episode of 6th series. Last series.
She breathalyses him and he's amazed when the test comes up positive. He assures her he was only drinking non-alcoholic beer but she insists that he come back to the station with her to give a blood test. One sample is sent to the police labs while Vincent takes the second. Vincent's indiscretion is reported in the local paper and soon everyone knows about it.
When Doc Ryan tests Vincent's sample it also comes up positive. Eventually Doc Ryan realises that there was a mix up and Vincent was drinking full strength beer after all. Finally, Frankie's test comes back from the police labs and Vincent is clear by a whisker. Siobhan is annoyed that Brendan doesn't take enough responsibility for Aisling and when he agrees to look after her he only makes matters worse. Brendan takes Aisling into school with him and is confronted by an angry Siobhan in front of his class.
Brendan makes amends by taking Siobhan to dinner to celebrate Aisling's conception. While Brendan is out with Siobhan, Liam and Edso nearly come to blows over Elaine, Siobhan's niece who is babysitting. Dooley is pleased that his future is more secure but he's uncomfortable that Vincent owns the pub. One day in Cilldargan he sees representatives from a cable company looking for a property on high ground where they can set up a satellite dish.
He also notices that Louis is trying to sell an old cottage in the mountains and decides he can make some money out of it. Dooley persuades Louis to sell the property and buys it with help from Liam and Donal who received money from Quigley in episode 1. To Dooley's dismay the cable company pull out of the deal at the last moment but all is not lost because the head of the company decides to buy the cottage anyway as a holiday home.
Vincent is having other worries. Not only is Kathleen protesting about shortened confession times, the banks are eager to recoup their losses by selling Quigley's property and the priest's house is under threat. Father Mac tries to buy the priest's house for Vincent but at the last minute he finds it has gone to another buyer.
When Vincent returns home, he finds out that Dooley is his new landlord having used the proceeds from the cottage to buy the property. Note 2nd Episode of 6th series. Oonagh goes ahead and buys the goat which soon becomes a menace in the pub. Dooley decides enough is enough and tells Grainne she'll have to keep the goat up at Avril's. Avril is finding the financial worries of running the stables a burden. When she receives an offer for The Cat from another trainer she has to take the offer seriously.
Avril soon finds out that Grainne is keeping her goat at the stables but she decides to let her keep it there. Suddenly The Cat's form improves and Avril realises it's because of the goat. The Cat and the goat have become great mates. Frankie asks Vincent to speak to a drunk who has asked to see a priest. The man is called Joe Clohessy and he confesses to breaking into a house and accidentally knocking a woman down the stairs.
The woman falls into a coma and her husband becomes the prime suspect. Vincent doesn't know what to do because he can't repeat what Clohessy has told him due to the strict rules of confession. Frankie is suspicious when Vincent asks for information about the case. She confronts him but he can't tell her what he knows. Eventually Vincent goes to Father Mac for some advice. Father Mac understands Vincent's predicament and has a 'word' with Clohessy who soon admits what he has done.
Afterwards Frankie realises the position Vincent was in and thanks him trying to help. The Cat's form continues to improve and Avril decides to race her at Wexford. Edso helps Avril when they take The Cat for a trial run and they start to flirt with each other.
Eventually Dooley finds out how the goat has improved the horse's form and suddenly takes an interest in his daughter's pet. He has a word with Avril and negotiates to take a percentage of any winnings. Just before the race the goat disappears and The Cat becomes restless. Everyone thinks Grainne has taken her but when Donal goes round to see Liam he hears the goat. Liam confesses that he took the goat because he bet on a different horse and didn't want The Cat to win.
They take the goat to Wexford just in time and The Cat wins the race. Note 3rd Episode of 6th series. A tree is hit by lightening and when he looks down his fishing bag has disappeared. He hurries back to the pub. Donal suggests that it might have been the ghost of Finbar Corcoran, a highwayman who was hanged in the 18th century.
Dooley dismisses talk of a ghost but his ears prick up when he hears that the innkeeper at Fitzgerald's was granted fishing rights, in perpetuity, after he handed Corcoran over to the authorities. Dooley convinces Vincent that the trust will benefit if he can start organising tours for anglers using the fishing rights. Brendan is annoyed that his fishing will be disturbed.
Kathleen asks Edso for driving lessons after winning a car in a competition. He realises she'll never pass her test but he enjoys the lessons because he can talk to her about Avril. Liam realises that Kathleen will never be able to drive the car and tries to sell it to Father Mac. His idea backfires when the car arrives covered with advertisements for tights. Father Mac refuses to take the car. As Dooley's plans progress strange things start to occur.
One night Liam and Donal see an apparition. Another night Edso and Kathleen see a horse and rider. Oonagh also hears horses hooves in the pub. Meanwhile the anglers start to arrive in Ballyk but so do television crews looking for information about the ghost. The TV crews make such a distraction that the anglers leave.
Dooley's business plans are in tatters. Eventually Vincent and Frankie go to look for the ghost. They see a horse and rider and pursue only to find out it is Grainne and Dermot making a film in the style of the Blair Witch Project about Corcoran's ghost.
They admit that they were responsible for frightening Edso and Kathleen but they swear they had nothing to do with the other hauntings. One night Dooley goes down to the cellar and gets the flight of his life when the 'ghost' appears. The next morning he goes straight to Vincent and asks for an exorcism.
Vincent has a hunch and goes to see Louis who admits that he was behind the ghost scam all along. Louis explains that he wanted to ruin Dooley's angling plans after being stitched up in episode 2. Note 4th Episode of 6th series. She finds out that he's staying at Fitzgerald's and leaves a note for him. Vincent finds Avril sitting in the church and offers help but she refuses.
Liam and Donal demand that Dooley return the money he borrowed from them in episode 2. Paul immediately goes to see Cattermole, his bank manager, to ask for a loan. Cattermole agrees to lend Paul the money on the condition that he sells the priest's house. When Paul returns he finds Oonagh blowtorching the name Fitzgerald's on the pub. She wants to rename it Oonagh Dooley's. Vincent decides that there should be a vote.
Later in the pub Liam and Donal refuse to pay for their drinks. They tell Oonagh that Dooley knows why. Oonagh confronts Dooley and he explains what is going on. He promises to deal with the problem swiftly. Garrett reads Avril's note and realises that she wants him to leave town.
He finds her and they have an uncomfortable conversation. We realise that she is a recovering alcoholic. Liam and Donal decide that they have to increase the pressure on Dooley to get their money back. That night Oonagh sleeps in the spare room and Dooley is left on his own. When he wakes up the next morning he gets a shock when he finds a horse's saddle in his bed. Frankie is called to the house but it's Dermot who explains the significance, that Dooley has upset the 'mob' ie Liam and Donal.
A desperate Dooley tries to get the money from a loan shark but even this fails. When Avril comes to pick up her saddle she sees Garrett with his new girlfriend. She is shocked when she realises it's her sister, Rosie. Avril storms off, buys a bottle of whiskey and heads home. Vincent sees this and follows her. He tries to stop her drinking the whiskey and she throws him out of her house. He waits and eventually the full whiskey bottle comes flying through the window and lands in the yard.
Vincent talks to her and suggests she go to an AA meeting. The next day Dooley meets with Cattermole and agrees to sell the priest's house. He'll sell the priest's house as long as he gets first refusal on the pub.
He also agrees not to change the name of the pub. Later that day Avril goes to an AA meeting in Cilldargan and is surprised when Vincent stands up and introduces himself. Note 5th Episode of 6th series. Siobhan doesn't seem interested in the fete at all and acts as if something is bothering her.
She goes to see Doc Ryan and we realise that she is waiting for some test results. Brendan is oblivious to Siobhan's predicament. Mac usually scuppers Liam and Donal's cow-in-a-field competition at the fete but they decide to try again this year seeing that Vincent is in charge. Once Vincent agrees they negotiate the use of a cow from Louis called Bertha. Oonagh finds out that Kathleen is going for ten wins in a row in the jam competition and also decides to enter. Kathleen starts to worry when she realises that she's up against Oonagh and that Vincent is replacing Mac as judge.
Avril calls Siobhan to the stables when she thinks one of her horses has colic. George, the owner of the horse, comes to take the animal away for a second opinion. When word gets out another owner takes her horse away from the stables and Avril worries that the yard might have to close. To make matters worse the bank manager calls and asks to see her. Dooley finds out about Avril's situation and thinks it's a good opportunity to expand the Dooley empire.
He invites Cattermole, the bank manager, to lunch and tells him he wants to re-decorate the pub. In fact he wants the money to buy a stake in Avril's yard. Cattermole agrees to the loan but also mentions that his wife is entering the jam competition and that he'd like her to win.
Dooley immediately tries to dissuade Oonagh from making her jam. Liam and Donal prepare for the cow-in-the-field competition by marking out a grid of squares on the ground. Father Mac mentions to Vincent that he hopes Liam and Donal will be contributing to the parish fund.
Brendan eventually realises that something is wrong and tries to talk to Siobhan but she pushes him away. Siobhan goes for some groceries and breaks down in front of Kathleen.
She tells her that she found a lump on her breast and is waiting for the test results. Kathleen comforts her and tells her she needs to speak to Brendan.
Siobhan tells Brendan who takes it badly and doesn't express himself very well. Siobhan worries that she can't count on him for support. Later that night Brendan tells Vincent what has happened. The day of the fete arrives. Dooley goes to Avril and offers to ease her money worries by buying a stake in the yard. She takes his offer seriously but she has to go to race a horse and can't make an instant decision. Liam and Donal sell tickets for the squares in the grid they have marked out.
If Bertha drops a cow pat on one of the squares, the person with the corresponding ticket wins a prize. To stop this happening Liam and Donal give Bertha tablets to hung her up. Oonagh, Kathleen and Aubretia set up their jams but before the competition starts Dooley switches Oonagh and Aubretia's.
In the end Vincent decides that Kathleen and Aubretia are joint winners. Cattermole is pleased that his wife has one and agrees to lend Dooley the money but Oonagh smells a rat. Dooley has double blow because Oonagh tells Cattermole the deal is off and Avril's horse wins the race and she no longer needs Dooley's money. To top everything Frankie catches Dermot drinking in the beer tent. The tablets do the trick and Bertha doesn't produce any cowpats. Liam and Donal think they've made a killing but Bertha causes havoc by running into one of the tents and Father Mac takes the winnings from them to pay for the damage.
While Brendan is at the fete Siobhan finds out that the test is negative and they are reunited when she tells him the good news. Note 6th Episode of 6th series.
Barry and Lyn want to get married and Vincent has agreed to conduct the service. When Vincent asks for Barry's marriage license, Barry says he left it at home.
Vincent tries to persuade Father Mac to let the marriage take place but he refuses. Vincent suggests to Barry that they just phone his parish priest but Barry's reaction tells Vincent that there wasn't a license in the first place. It turns out that Barry has been married before and therefore can't be married again in the eyes of the church. Barry gets angry with Vincent when he refuses to marry him. Dooley has leased some land and a consortium want to build on it. While Liam and Donal are clearing the land they discuss what they are going to do with the money they retrieved from Dooley in episode 5.
Liam suggests investing in Avril's horse,The Cat, as part of a syndicate. Dooley tells them to get back on with their work. Brendan arrives with some schoolchildren while Liam and Donal are trying to move one specific rock.
He tells Dooley that it's a mass rock and that he has to leave it where it is. Dooley is determined to move the rock. Doc Ryan is sceptical when he hears that a faith healer called Consuela Dunphy is arriving in Wicklow. He tells Frankie that he is suspicious about Consuela's supposed healing powers. Frankie agrees to check her out and goes to one of the shows with Vincent. Near the end of the show Vincent is surprised to see Lyn getting onto the stage where Consuela rubs her stomach.
Afterwards Lyn confronts Vincent about his treatment of Barry and tells him that they have been trying to start a family without any success for some time. Vincent goes to Avril for some advice about marrying Barry and Lyn and she suggests that he doesn't want to upset Mac. This comment touches one of Vincent's nerves and he goes to ask Mac a second time.
Mac's reaction is the same: he forbids Vincent to marry them. Lyn feels ill and goes to see Doc Ryan. She is shocked when he tells her that she's been pregnant for a week or so. Father Mac also hears about Consuela and decides to see her for himself. He gets up on stage and questions her powers of healing.
She hypnotises him so that his arthritic limp disappears when he leaves the stage. Father Mac is relieved when the pain returns because he does not want to be an example of Consuela's success. Vincent eventually decides to marry Barry and Lyn.
Dooley decides to leave the mass rock where it is and this is where Vincent conducts the marriage ceremony. Note 7th Episode of 6th series. Vincent doesn't handle it very well. Louis' dog becomes ill and he calls Siobhan. After examining the dog she finds some strange plants growing near Louis' house on the mountain. She takes a sample and sends it to a lab to be tested. She discovers that the plants are cannabis. Frankie finds out about the plants and starts to investigate.
Father Mac is called to see the Bishop. The Bishop isn't happy that Mac assumed the church would buy back the priest's house from the bank. Vincent also goes to see the Bishop and gets a dressing down for marrying Barry and Lyn. To make matters worse Lucius Cattermole, the bank manager, wants to sell the priest's house quickly which would make Vincent homeless. When Vincent hears the news he asks the Dooleys if he can stay at the pub but there's no room.
Father Mac arranges for him to stay with Kathleen. One evening Mac receives an unexpected visit from the bishop who insinuates that Mac is too old to be a parish priest and that he should contemplate his future. Vincent can't take any more of Kathleen so he moves in with Brendan. Paul is delighted to hear that the council want to build on the land he has leased. He meets with two officials and is surprised when they reveal that they want to build a rubbish dump for the Cilldargan area.
Oonagh is sceptical when Paul tells her about the plans for the dump. Eventually Paul decides not to develop the land if it's going to be a rubbish dump. One night Avril goes over to Siobhan's house but finds Vincent babysitting while Siobhan has a night out with Brendan. She ends up staying for a coffee and a chat. Later that night Siobhan and Brendan find them asleep on the sofa together and both Avril and Vincent are embarrassed when they wake up. The next day Vincent arranges to stay with Frankie.
That night Frankie goes to stake out the cannabis plants. She sees someone taking a cutting from the plants and is shocked when it turns out to be Doc Ryan. She takes him back to the station and Vincent is forced to move again.
Doc Ryan explains that he was prescribing the cannabis as pain relief for a patient. The next morning Vincent wakes up to see a horse flying over his head and realises he has bedded down on a horse track. Avril sees him and offers the spare room at her place. When Vincent hears about the bishop's conversation with Mac he confronts the bishop and says that if Mac goes, he goes. Frankie goes to visit her aunt who has multiple sclerosis and is surprised to find she is smoking a joint.
Frankie realise that Doc Ryan was prescribing the cannabis to her own aunt. The aunt is adamant that she asked Doc Ryan to get it for her and that he should not be punished. Frankie decides not to take the matter any further when Doc Ryan agrees to stop. Vincent is asked to take confession for a sick priest in a nearby church. Father Mac is a friend of the sick priest but doesn't know he is ill and arrives to give his confession. Mac and Vincent are both embarrassed when they realise they are talking to each other but it gives them the opportunity to begin to resolve their differences.
Note 8th Episode of 6th series. Father Peter Clifford's journey from England ends in his new parish, the small town of Ballykissangel. As Father Clifford settles into his new parish, Brian Quigley's holiday home development seems stalled by a young couple living in a caravan near the site, but Peter gets involved when he hears Brian is responsible for their baby's illness.
Niamh's wedding plans are disrupted when a stone statue falls off the church and through her fiancee Ambrose's car. BBC Publicity Notes. Father Peter Clifford is told that he must return to England but the Ballykissangel community is determined to put a stop to that idea. School teacher Brendan faces losing his job because of falling numbers at the National School in Ballykissangel, but parents and friends discover that Father Mac is responsible for the decision, they rally round to save their favourite teacher. Brian Quigley makes a video to attract American tourists to Ballykissangel, but the locals' acting skills are tested to the limit - and it's not a pretty sight.
A baby abandoned on the priest's doorstep causes Father Peter Clifford and Assumpta Fitzgerald a sleepless night. Every village has a busy body and Kathleen is best placed in Ballykissangel.
Brian Quigley is organising a beauty contest, as part of the village festival, to find the new model for a bottled water company. Kathleen's house goes up in flames and as she has no insurance the gers start a collection, although Father Peter Clifford is hard pressed to find any money given Father Mac's constant demands on his income. Two mysterious strangers have the gers intrigued. Everyone's Christmas plans fall apart when Padraig's son Kevin gets trapped down a mine shaft.
With the birth of Niamh's baby approaching, the last thing she needs is a stressful visit from Ambrose's mother, Imelda. Quigley's latest business venture to attract Korean investors involves bulldozing a local beauty spot. With Assumpta on a break in London, Niamh is left to look after the pub, but the new baby is taking its toll on her and she agrees to let Ambrose's mother Imelda help out.
Quigley is depressed but not defeated after the loss of a major investment. Peter returns to BallyK to discover a pair of scantily dressed young women in his house. Assumpta's marriage isn't going well. A young woman arrives in Ballykissangel hoping to find news of her family. Did you know Edit.
